QUICKLY: What is 100 percent of $4,000? No, it's not a trick question. And yes, you are absolutely correct: 100
percent of $4,000 is $4,000. Pretty simple, huh?
All right, here's another simple question: Would you trust one-sixth of the U.S. economy to someone who doesn't know the answer to the previous question? Well, of course not. It would be not only absurd but catastrophic.
But President Barak Obama, who wants to take over the private health care industry -- one-sixth of the U.S. economy -- doesn't seem to know what 100 percent of anything is. No wonder the government is bankrupt! And apparently it is possible to get a doctorate from Harvard Law School without a knowledge of first-grade math.
I kid you not. At a rally in Strongville, Ohio, yesterday (Monday, March 15,
2010) to promote ObamaScare, B.O. actually said that workers who get their health
insurance through their employers may see premiums go down by as much as 3,000%
if his plan is adopted!!!!
(Article continues below ads. Please note that Perspicacity Press does not necessarily endorse these ads.)
I'll grant that calculating 3,000% is a bit trickier than calculating 100%. Some of us may not have learned until second grade that 3,000 is 30 times more than 100 and that 30 times $4,000 (a more-or-less typical annual premium for an employer group health care plan) is $120,000.
Employers would save so much they will be able to afford to give their employees a raise, Obama told the cheering crowd of around 200 Obama groupies. (The Communist rag,
People's World, which claims there were 800 people in the crowd, must have been counting arms and legs, not heads.)
So are we to believe that under ObamaScare, instead of employers paying premiums to the insurance company, they would collect $116,000 ($120,000 minus $4,000) from the insurance company for each insured employee?
Obama already has his hand on the joystick of the biggest budget on the planet and is jerking it around like video-game-addicted adolescent playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.
For him to make such a gargantuan gaffe is more than unsettling. It's downright scary.
And it was no slip of the lip. Obama made that statement deliberately and with emphasis. Listen to the video clip
HERE and judge for yourself. Is B.O. really so stupid that he doesn't know what a stupid thing he said? Or does he think you are so stupid you wouldn't ask yourself questions like how is an insurance company going to pay claims if it doesn't collect premiums? Or where is the $19.4 trillion going to come from ($116,000 per employee times 167,000 insured employees) that he implied employers would be paid under his plan?
I don't know the definitive answer to that, but I do have an opinion: I think Obama is not nearly as smart as
he thinks he is and that you, my fellow Americans, are a lot smarter than he knows.
What I do know is that B.O.'s real purpose in promoting ObamaScare has nothing to do with actually improving health care or making it more affordable or more accessible. That is just a come-on, and it is something no plan he has proposed and no legislation being considered by Congress could possibly deliver. Rather,
Obama's ultimate agenda, which he shares with the likes of Pelosi, Reid and other radical-leftists who now run the country, is a total take-over of the private sector and an iron-fisted absolute control over every aspect of your life!
But I also think that a gaffe of this magnitude, if enough people learn about it, will be his undoing.
